Bloom where you are planted :-)

I’ve always loved that little saying. I remember it from when I was but a little girl…… and that was a loooong time ago!

I was fortunate to find these two little pieces that make such a nice couple hanging about together. They were purchased from two adorable Etsy sellers. The frame with chicken wire and green glass knobs comes from Antebelle. I found Antebelle through my daughter’s website, Handmade in PA, that promotes and supports Artisan/crafters of Pennsylvania

Hanging on the frame is a sweet little sign that says “bloom”! It has a wire hanger that curls into a bow at the top. And where do I get so many of my signs? From Donna at WhimsyTwo, of course!

I pray this Sunday finds you happily blooming where ever you have been planted! ((hugs)) Rosie

Bird Watching on the Winter Porch

In the summer our bird feeders are spread far and wide through out the yard and woods so that we can enjoy their presence no matter where we are working or strolling.

This winter, to make it easier for me to enjoy our wildlife, Sweet Hubby moved all the feeders and suet boxes onto the overhang of the porch. We are blessed daily by scores of birds….Juncos, Titmouse, Jenny Wrens, Cardinals, and both Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers.

I spent sometime yesterday snapping pictures of some Goldfinch playing in the bread bowl and snapping up strewn seed. As well as, watching Lucy watch the squirrel that was doing the same thing!

A Re-Post

I don’t do this too often, but I was looking back over my oldies but goodies while sitting here in the middle of a snow storm. I began daydreaming of Spring and thought you might like to join me 🙂

Karla over at “Karla’s Cottage”. is posing the question “What do you love about your home?” And, she’s sharing not only her beautiful kitchen but she is linking to other wonderful blogs where you can take peeks of their favorite spots in their home.

Think I will join the fun….

My “favorite” and I think “romantic” place in my house is actually around my house. I love my porch. A reader once said ” Oh you have my Dream Home, A Porch with a house in the middle of it” I loved that!

Front Porch 2 It extends from the side steps left to my kitchen door and straight….past my front door (52 feet), it then turns the corner for another 46 feet….turns the corner again and heads to the screened-in room, which is off my dining room.

Front Porch

The screen porch that looks off into the woods is my “nest”. It’s a great place to cuddle up by myself or with family and friends. It is the coziest place….. I look froward to the first warm spring day to open it for the season….porch sitting season, that is :<)

Screen Porch 2

Well, there you have it… “favorite, cozy, romantic” place in my home.

Hope you enjoyed a glimpse of summer 🙂

Here they come…..

….just a walkin’ down the lane.

Singin’ ” do wa diddy diddy dum diddy do ”

I adore October!

Have a great weekend 🙂 Rosie

Morning Rituals

I know you will all relate to this to one degree or another. Do you have a set routine for your early morning?

For me, it’s letting the dog out, then feeding my menagerie of pets. While the coffee is brewing, I unload the dishwasher. Then, I sit down with the computer. Sometimes, I am good and disciplined and other times I need to call in “Super Chicken Timer”!

Morning Rituals

This sweet little timer was a gift from my new DIL this past year. I am sure she intended me to use it for cooking. What? But it is a perfect device to help me stay on track. If I need to only be on the computer for say 20 minutes. I set it for that and when Super Chicken dings, I close the laptop. Who knew?

Summer warmth ……

…… means I stay inside a move things around 🙂

I decided to flip flop the red shelf in my kitchen/dining area and the honey colored rattan armoire from my stair wall of my great room.

I added the piece of iron work that I painted barn red, plopped a red rooster clock in the middle and sat my rooster weather vane beside it.

I brought my gorgeous Fork Chandeliers, that I got from Linda’s Blue Gate, in from the screened porch to dangle under the tin sconces.

All in all, I am pretty happy with that wall.

The Armoire is now at the end of my Kitchen Cabinets. I like how the Honey colored rattan warms up the kitchen. Now I need to work on the top of it. One of the doodads I placed on top keeps moving around!

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate the support of you all both in your comments and through personal emails. My first year anniversary seemed to slip by unnoticed by me this summer. However, the friendships I have made have not. Everyone of you who drops by and has left comments has added to the bounty of my life.  ((hugs)) Rosie

I See Red!

I have been wanting to use this “toy” on my camera and this is the perfect opportunity….eventhough I am coming late to the party. Thanks to Sara at Sadie Olive for giving me a chance to play along in the “I Saw Red Challenge” ….. this was fun!

(The “toy” that I refer to is a setting on my camera that allows one to focus on a particular color and then just take random pictures of things with that color in them. The only thing that shows up is that color. I had to be shown 2 times how to use it before I remembered. Once by step son Ben and once by son Marty ….. they both have the patience of Job!)

((hugs)) Rosie

p.s. Thanks to all who stopped by for brunch on the Front Porch! What a busy day of visiting with all my bloggy friends …… you guys are the best!
